“There's a feeling deep in our hearts...”
Taking a production like "Waikiki" nearly 400 miles from AHA's home in Oakland, CA to a new audience in Southern California was a massive logistical effort. Without the kokua and aloha from the many people who were instrumental in helping to bring "Waikiki" to Redondo Beach on July 24, 2010, our show would not have been possible. Kumu Hula Mark Keali'i Ho'omalu and the Academy of Hawaiian Arts would like to say mahalo nui loa to the following individuals and halau for their generous support:
Kumu Hula Puanani Jung and Halau Hula Lani Ola
Kumu Hula Kanani Kalama and Kalama Hula Studio
Kumu Hula Sissy Ka'io and Hula Halau o Lilinoe
Kumu Hula Tula Striffler and Tula Productions
Na Kumu Hula Kawika & Leinani Veloria and Halau Hula a Kawika laua 'o Leinani
John LaRock, Jack Meyer and the staff at the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center
And of course every person who bought a ticket and supported the show. It was an honor and a privilege to perform for you.
"Memories that always will last..."
The Academy of Hawaiian Arts will never forget our friends in Southern California. We look forward to visiting you again soon, and hope that you will always remember the magic of Waikiki.
